Sheer joy
Each year’s comedy wildlife photography awards are a source of boundless joy. One cannot avoid cracking a smile even on a gloomy day when surrounded by such an abundance of cute faces, expressions, postures, or hilarious accidents. The comical element in the photos invariably arises from the animals’ similarities to the many shades of human disposition or the way an instantané can fit into a story construed entirely by our imagination. It seems our so-called “human expressions” are not so unique to our species, and this, by itself, is telling enough of the kinship bonds inherent in the world.
